The Order of the Blue Polo

I work as network admin for the University of Salamanca. I implemented OpenNMS to manage the network of the university (60 buildings, 372 nodes, 16000 interfaces, 2500 services). For us is the ideal tool to accomplish this task: easy installation, great support for our equipment (mainly Cisco and Juniper) and flexible management of events, alerts and notifications.

We run OpenNMS in a Ubuntu 8.04 server with 2 Gb of RAM and 2x Xeon 3.2 GHz. All the installation and maintenance of packages is done using the official repository for Debian / Ubuntu distributions.

I'm also very interested in the new features of 1.7, mainly in Rancid integration. We currently have Rancid implemented but not integrated with OpenNMS and can be a great tandem, especially for tracking failures related to configuration changes.

I want to express my infinite gratitude to the work that all the OpenNMS team is doing to create the best tool for network management.
