This is the OpenNMS tutorial. It will provide you with the basic steps you need to have a fully-functioning OpenNMS installation.
At the top of each page you'll see a table of contents that shows where you're at in the tutorial.
Conventions Used in the Tutorials
RELEASE
When we use the term RELEASE in all-caps, it is referring to the version of OpenNMS that you choose to install in the Choosing a Release section of the tutorial.
$OPENNMS_HOME
When we use the term $OPENNMS_HOME, it is referring to the root directory of your OpenNMS installation. This will be "/opt/opennms" on RPM-based installs, "/usr/share/opennms" on Debian, or another path on other platforms or a source installation.
"Try It!" Sections
Throughout this tutorial, there will be "Try-It!" sections, for you to try out on your own OpenNMS system. They will look like this:
If you follow all of the "Try It!" sections in this tutorial, you should have a basic understanding of the workings of OpenNMS.
