af is Alexander Finger working in Geneva, Switzerland.

A lot of the content on these pages has been made obsolete because the OGP and OpenNMS Inc. are simply too damn fast in implementing whatever breadcrumb of improvement I write down here.

I have made a thorough analysis of writeback performance for large installations and am willing to share my learnings on request. The "model-importer" was patronized by my employer as well as the ticketing interface to RT (v1).

The probably largest field of improvement I currently see is in the WebUI; that's however closely tied to the way of how services are defined and linked inside OpenNMS. Making the WebUI more sexy will imply some changes in the config (and make the double-configuration of services...redundant..?).

I felt I had to update it in Sept, 2008. Since coming back from Dev-Jam 2008 I did get to add some RestFulness to the Air Application but my time gets currently sucked out of me faster than I can believe. The AIR stuff is very simple and anybody with a bit of programming knowledge can get on it.

I'm blogging at [1] and my nick on [2] is gvainfo or ofniavg.
