Out of curiosity, is there any reason the Installation:Yum instructions didn't work?

I'm trying to consolidate the documentation, especially on installing, and avoiding distro-specific instructions when the "generic" yum instructions will work. Trying to avoid 150 different outdated "Installing <specific_version> on <4-year-old-distro>" type instructions.  :)
